THE BENEFITS OF USING MINITAB

NEW
Webinar: Expanded Gage R&R
We
cannot improve what we cannot measure – we need to use
Gage R&R. This statistical tool helps us verify
the integrity and consistency of our measurement
systems.
But
what if you need to consider more than just parts and
operators in your study? For example, what if you also
need to include different measurement devices?
A
new, free webinar reveals how Minitab 16's
Expanded Gage R&R functionality can
help. Presented by Lou Johnson, Minitab technical
training specialist, this event will lead participants
through two different customer case studies where
Minitab’s Expanded Gage R&R was used to evaluate a
measurement system.
This
webinar will be offered on August 25 at 11:00 AM EDT
(GMT -4:00) and on September 1 at 2:00 PM EDT (GMT
-4:00). Space is limited, so register

Phoenix
Contact: Powering Through Projects
Phoenix
Contact—a leading manufacturer of electrical connection
and industrial automation technology—began using
Minitab's Quality Companion software in January 2011.
And even though the deployment is still in its early
stages, the software has already proven extremely
beneficial.
For
example, Quality Companion provides and stores all of
the tools and documents related to each project in a
single file that’s easy to share, review, and archive.
That's important in a company that, with more than
25,000 product offerings, is always doing
a multitude of projects simultaneously.
"With
Quality Companion, all of our project data is
centralized," says Joe Russo, a Phoenix Contact Master
Black Belt. "I can’t imagine going back to multiple
files and folders to manage my
projects."

Warding
Off a New Wrinkle with Design of Experiments

People
love cotton’s comfortable properties and soft feel.
Given that it’s the most widely used fiber in clothing,
you’re probably wearing some right now. But as everyone
who’s ironed a cotton shirt or pants knows, the same
properties that make it popular can make
cotton-based fabric particularly prone to wrinkling.
That’s
why researchers from the National Textile University in Faisalabad,
Pakistan,
embarked on a study aimed at predicting the best fabric
properties for strong, crease-free cotton—and they used
Minitab Statistical Software to help.
